The Officers and Board of INTECOL are delighted to announce that the 10th International Congress of Ecology will be held in Brisbane, Australia, 16-21 August 2009. The Congress will be hosted by the Ecological Society of Australia in partnership with the New Zealand Ecological Society. This is the first time that an International Congress of Ecology will have been held in the southern Hemisphere.

As well as the excellent conference facilities provided by the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland provides outstanding possibilities for congress excursions including the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island, Heron Island, and the Daintree Rainforest.

The Board extends to the team of Dr. Craig James, the Vice President of INTECOL, Chair of the Organising Committee and former President of the Ecological Society of Australia, all their best wishes for the detailed planning which lies ahead.

Planning for this important World Congress is already underway and information will be progressively posted to this website.

The Decade 2005-2014 is designated UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development

The Decade 2005-2014 is also designated the International Decade for Action "Water for Life"
